Why iputils?  I mean, we want it upgraded too, but it's not iproute2, so
I am puzzled by you mentioning it in this thread.

Yes, I think Piotr's patch should get in.

Then, with a separate commit, we should get rid of the initscripts
tarball + patches in favor of keeping the scripts right in our native
tree.  Then we'll rework those scripts further.
