No.  Users of Owl-2.0 or similar are to upgrade to Owl-3.0 first, then
they are free to upgrade to Owl-current.  Some partial combination of
old 2.4 kernel and new networking scripts is not supported at all :)

Currently, yes.  However, I've started to upgrade iputils to the latest
version today :-)

I've tried Piotr's patch, it looks like working just OK.  I suppose it
is not a hard work to port it from vconfig to ip, so I'm OK with merging
the patch.  Solar?
