Not intentional.  It's more like I don't bother setting those bits on
scripts newly introduced with patches.  Maybe I should.

As to the latest jumbo, Jim's john-1.7.8-jumbo-6RC2-3.tar.gz, which I
sort of had to use, didn't have those scripts +x.
