There is a

file updated 5 months ago; it says:

Stepan Kasal <...> maintains GNU grep since Feb 2004.
Tony Abou-Assaleh <...> maintains GNU grep since Oct 2007.

I'm not sure that this grep was packaged in distributions, though.
