Could you please tell us what version of RPM is installed on your
system? The _initrddir macro is defined in /usr/lib/rpm/*-macros and
this macro is present in rpm-4.2-owl16:
jill!galaxy:~$ fgrep -lr _initrddir /usr/lib/rpm/*
/usr/lib/rpm/athlon-linux/macros
/usr/lib/rpm/i386-linux/macros
/usr/lib/rpm/i486-linux/macros
/usr/lib/rpm/i586-linux/macros
/usr/lib/rpm/i686-linux/macros
/usr/lib/rpm/noarch-linux/macros
