The pool contains whatever third-party tarballs, etc. were ever used by any branch of Owl. If you see a certain file under pool/sources/ for your package name, this does _not_ imply that the file is actually being used by your branch of Owl - rather, the file might have been used by a long abandoned branch. The sources directory/symlink trees for each branch contain symlinks to whatever pool files are actually being used by the given branch. (So you'd use lftp's "mirror -L" command to download just those files from the pool, as mentioned in DOWNLOAD.) However, those files are merely unmodified third-party sources (with very few exceptions) - _not_ our actual sources. Our modifications to those third-party sources go into the native tree that is available on our FTP mirrors as native.tar.gz (separately for each branch), as well as via anoncvs and CVSweb (with branches appropriately tagged). -- Alexander Peslyak <solar at openwall.com> GPG key ID: B35D3598 fp: 6429 0D7E F130 C13E C929 6447 73C3 A290 B35D 3598 http://www.openwall.com - bringing security into open computing environments
