Okay, I'll patch up the needed software. Btw, do you mind if I use tcb and 
some of the other Owl patches in Gentoo Linux? All credit will be given where 
it is due, of course.

Tarballs would at least make things a lot easier... The only alternative for 
me now is to grab the tarball from the build archive and put it on Ibiblio. 
Some authorative source would be preferable to a third party mirror.
