To follow up on this: Vasily committed a fix into both -current and
-stable, and we just need to add CHANGES* entries to make this public.
I've tested that the fix made the problem go away. (Mozilla's build of
Firefox 17.0.1 runs fine now. Firefox 19 would probably also run fine,
but it needs an extra library, which I did not bother to provide.)
