I guess their .config differs in some relevant way.  You could want to
investigate this.

Yes, please - at least for now.  This won't be any worse than what we
had in Owl 3.0.

Perhaps you can grep the entire tree for early_is_k8_nb and see if
there's a definition available for use from under the i386/ tree.  Last
time I checked, there was not.
