Hmm, I missed that __get_resolv_conf already handles the nns==0 case and adds 127.0.0.1, such that a resolv.conf with no entries in it behaves the same as if it were missing, just overriding the other things like search. I don't see a good reason to change that. So the question is just what should happen if the resolv.conf only listed v6 nameservers and v6 is disabled. I think the first hunk of the above patch should probably just be dropped, but the second kept, so that the configuration error gets reported rather than silently failing after timeout and requiring strace to diagnose.
