You should rather credit Figueroa, for instance in the article “when is double rounding innocuous?”. This would be more of a primary source, and Figueroa wrote demonstrations.

Posting from phone, I apologize if I got something wrong. I'm pretty confident Stephen was implicitly citing Figueroa's results though.
