Explicit zero initialization is not needed, and current/going-forward
style in musl is not to use the NULL macro but rather 0 or (T*)0 if
needed (e.g. for variadic args).

If if clause uses braces, else should too. There might be some
existing violations but I'm trying to make this consistent.
