Subject: Re: cannot get rar hash

Hi,
It's a archive I created 3-6years ago which I forgot my password,not a test file.
It's a little sensitive that I can share it with you(jonh) but not other john users such as crackers.
How can I share the archive with you,by sharing onedrive link on the reply email?

So the problem you're reporting is that the hash is all 0's, correct?

If so, this looks like bug in rar2john. Maybe it's a bug in processing
of a supported RAR archive type, an unsupported RAR archive type (that
we don't properly detect, which is then a bug), or a corrupt archive
(but we should ideally detect that as such, instead of outputting 0's).

I suggest that you try to get things working or reproduce the problem on
a tiny test archive that you'd create just now. That way, you'd be able
to share that archive (without sensitive information in it) with us in
case it's usable to reproduce the problem, and we'll see whether we can
improve the rar2john tool accordingly.
