You're referring to incremental mode only. With the current publicly released JtR code, you can only go to length 13 with incremental mode if you restrict the character set to _one_ of the categories you listed above. So what you describe above won't work. However, it works great with the cutting-edge version we're using in the contest now, with the default compile-time limit at 15 and the full ASCII set allowed (you do have to recompile for the accents, though).
