Subject: Unsalted passwd

Hello list,

I found that this passwd line is unsalted.

root:$1$$1lqCUxARG7RZxCqf2/VNV0:0:0:root:/root:/bin/ash

and JtR detects it as (FreeBSD MD5 [32/64 X2])

However If I keep only this part lqCUxARG7RZxCqf2 which is the actual
hash(?) since it's unsalted.

JtR will detect this as (PIX MD5 [pix-md5])

Is this correct or I'm completely wrong?
