This was not supposed to work.  The correct version of the jumbo patch
to use with JtR 1.7.4 is john-1.7.4-jumbo-1.diff.gz (maybe that's what
you meant), and there's no JimF patch for that version yet.  So you
can't use a JimF patch with 1.7.4 yet.  I guess that Jim will update his
patch soon.

I should probably roll some or all of Jim's changes into the jumbo patch
eventually and reimplement some for inclusion into the official JtR, but
we're not there yet.  For this update of JtR, I decided to focus on
enhancements that were not already implemented in patches.  That way,
the combined functionality of the new version of JtR with the patches
(when they're fully updated) will be greater.
