Please see: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.security.openwall.john.user/414 You may get some French and German wordlists which include the 8-bit characters from my wordlists collection: http://www.openwall.com/wordlists/ (follow the link to FTP mirrors at the bottom of that web page if you don't want to pay).
