Well, it needs at least 192*1024 candidate passwords for optimal speed.
Perhaps the TS provides a lot fewer.  Of course, having more candidates
won't reduce the total running time at all, but then this format will
compare favorably against its CPU counterpart.

I've just disabled the auto-reboot on "ASIC hang".  Please try.
Per Lukas, this format was supposed to be usable on 7970 in the contest,
so I guess he tested it as not ASIC hanging.
