Message-ID: <20120815233337.GA2305@debian> Date: Thu, 16 Aug 2012 03:33:37 +0400 From: Aleksey Cherepanov <aleksey.4erepanov@...il.com> To: john-dev@...ts.openwall.com Subject: Aleksey's daily status report #10 Done - tried binary on 32bit debian, mageia, mint, ubuntu, opensuse, fedora Observations and problems - johnny built on debian stable works everywhere That's good. - on all platforms john package is called john - qt package has different names libqtgui4 on debian/ubuntu/mint/mageia, libqt4-x11 on opensuse and qt-x11 on fedora - john is at /usr/bin/john or /usr/sbin/john - johnny could not find and use john only on opensuse because on opensuse john has permissions rwxr-x--- so johnny could not call john under user. - johnny crashes under root on opensuse when I try to open hashes file. Though on my debian it works. I did not try on other systems. - johnny does not say anything if user tries bad john path including case of opensuse above (if user inserted path by hands). - also johnny allows to choose not executable file choosing path to john Not user friendly. I think I could fix this one or even both point before release. To do - fix dialog to choose path to john I think there should be some property for this. Otherwise I'll postpone it. - add message when johnny could start john Also I think it would be nice to report exit code. - build .deb - test it on various distros - add johnny to system menu - build .rpm - test it on various distros Thanks! -- Regards, Aleksey Cherepanov
