Note that because of US Daylight Saving Time, EDT should be used rather
than EST:

Correct:

$ date --date='Friday Sept 22 9AM EDT' && date --date='Sunday Sept 24 11AM
EDT'
Fri Sep 22 05:00:00 AKDT 2017
Sun Sep 24 07:00:00 AKDT 2017

Incorrect:

$ date --date='Friday Sept 22 9AM EST' && date --date='Sunday Sept 24 11AM
EST'
Fri Sep 22 06:00:00 AKDT 2017
Sun Sep 24 08:00:00 AKDT 2017
