Subject: "No password hashes loaded" on Ubuntu 9.04

Hello,

First, thanks for this tool! Helps a lot IT secure team, like me :)

I have this error on Ubuntu 9.04:

root@...go-desktop:~/john-1.7.3.1/run# ./john /etc/shadow
No password hashes loaded

The FAQ tip does not help:

# umask 077
# unshadow /etc/passwd /etc/shadow > mypasswd

root@...go-desktop:~/john-1.7.3.1/run# ./john mypasswd
No password hashes loaded

I've tried to "downgrade" my "ENCRYPT_METHOD" from SHA512 to SHA256
on my /etc/logind.defs, but still not working.

I've tried version "1.7.2-3ubuntu1" and "1.7.3.1", but without work.

Can you help me please? :)

Thanks a lot!
