• IPv4 minimum MTU: 68 bytes

• IPv6 minimum MTU: 1280 bytes

• IPv4-node may originate ICMP “too big” with MTU < 1280

• What IPv6-node can do?

  • include a Fragment header or
  • reduce the size of subsequent packets
