Subject: Re: JTR and format NTLM

May I add Ophcrack (http://ophcrack.sf.net/) to that list?

Booting the target PC off an ophcrack XP LiveCD will extract and run
stored NTLM hashes against the provided rainbow table.

The Ophcrack GUI has got an export / "save as" function that produces
files which can be directly loaded into John. With John on an USB
flash drive, you can even crack away right on the target machine,
while the basic rainbow table search ist still running, particularily
on multicore CPUs.

The LiveCD is a "no install, no hassle, no traces" approach that
won't interfere with Virus Scanners either. And it works well with John.
