Subject: [openwall-announce] john-devkit; Johnny 2.0 testing; Hash Suite Droid 1.1

Hi,

This is to announce 3 things at once:

1. We've just posted online Aleksey Cherepanov's "john-devkit:
specialized compiler for hash cracking" presentation slides from
PHDays 2015:

http://www.openwall.com/presentations/PHDays2015-john-devkit/

As the slides say, this project is an experiment not yet embraced by
John the Ripper developer community. Yet it may be of interest.

Also included is a link to john-devkit project on GitHub.

2. Johnny 2.0 cross-platform GUI frontend for John the Ripper is ready
for testing, mostly due to work by Mathieu Laprise (student) and Shinnok
(mentor) under the ongoing GSoC 2015:

Johnny is currently supported on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. There
are binaries for Windows and Mac OS X. On Linux, you should build
Johnny from source.

3. A while ago, Alain Espinosa, a contributor to John the Ripper,
released version 1.1 of Hash Suite Droid, a free and Open Source
password cracker for Android devices:

This version includes complete OpenCL support, achieving performance
comparable to that of desktop CPUs on smartphone GPUs.

(Also released at the same time is a new version of Hash Suite for
Windows, but that's mostly non-free.)

Alexander
